editing/saving/Plotting Sewer Profiles

There is a significant bug when using edit profiles and plot profiles when the profile is sewer. The Edit profiles will not save the sewer profile so step ups and Manhole Id's etc are lost. Understandable if they are not saved then they will not plot or update. I have sent several feedback emails on the topic.

Intellicad 7.1.1548.50090.P.Alpha

When I have a crash occur Intellicad apparently saves a drawing. When I start Carlson / Intellicad next time I am prompted to open the auto-saved file. Upon selecting to open the file I see an error message in the command window and no file is opened. There are no entities in the current drawing and no other document is opened...

Google Earth

Everytime I try to attach Google Earth Image Icad crashes.

Crosshair issue

The crosshair issue is still in the new build. Intermittent this time, but bothersome enough to leave at 50%.

On one of the laptops it is REALLY noticeable until the crosshairs are down to 10-25%

MENU DISPLAY

I have noticed on two different computers now, that when I select the VIEW pull down MENU  it displays the FILE pull down MENU, all other menus appear to be correct. When I exit out of 7.1 and reopen, the problem is fixed??

Errors generated

I have found that I am running audit more regularly to avoid unwanted crashes. I have notices that when I run audit there in 90% of instances errors which require correcting. This is occurring when I have been doing very routine type usage, adding text moving items and generally tidying up drawings etc. Is there a log file I should forward which records these errors?

plotting a fairly large aerial image with cad overlay including large hatched areas to a pdf file.

Command: plot

Last command call consumed 3400.94 Mbytes of memory.

Should I be concerned?

Is there a couple of settings I need to reset or check with the new build?

after the pdf of finally plotted (took about 3 minutes) it was lacking the aerial image in the pdf.

Hec Ras Import in new build

In the newest build, which seems to be working okay so far, I have found an issue with the Import Hec-RAS, Flow Depth.

The file works fine in C2012 / Icad 6.6, but in the newest build it says "no data in file"

the import hydraulic depth point dialog box never comes up.

Customise Menus

I had some problems previously customising my menus in an earlier version. I had not got back to the the customise screen until today. When I open up the customize option I get the following screen. How do I restore the remainder of the menus

Leftover display issues

If you had previous build installed (120113), there may be some artifacts in the first session of new updated IntelliCAD. Please close and re-open after the installation. This should not affect new users or users of older builds.

New build posted (120126)

I was hoping when we did the last build it would be a great step forward, however several things did not go well and it was a mixed bag at best. The display fixes which stirred up lots of commotion have been pulled back and will come later. Other bugs have been fixed in meantime and listed below. 

We are hoping that we are now down to the wire and this should be considered a release candidate build.

Changes in 120126 build:

a) Rendering of already displayed layouts should be much faster on switching

b) Several causes of crashes are fixed (thank you for submitting these crash reports!)

c) Major speed improvement with autoregen when text needs to be re-rendered. This was happening too frequently before

d) Fix for the COPY command "ghosting" at large coordinates

e) Printing of images is fixed

f) Display changes from the last build have been temprarily removed until known issues have been addressed

g) Crosshairs freezing problem is addressed

h) Blank print preview in certain drawings is fixed

i) Slow Draw Sections command is fixed

j) ENTPROP dialog will now recall it position

k) Performance increase on the drawings with lots of polylines or polylines with width

l) Explorer window to restore position properly when second screen is not available

m) DTEXT command to work properly with white background

Line Table

I am having some trouble with using the Line Table.
I wanted to change the layer in which the table was in to another layer. Once I selected the table and changed the layer the table disappeared off the screen.

On one occasion when I selected Line Table the existing table also disappeared off the screen. This is not always the case, and I cannot replicate the this situation.I could not get it back.

Then when I re-did the table and later wanted to add lines to the table I had to use edit table values. This meant manually entering the values.

To start a new table I have to exit the job and then re-open so as it gives me the opportunity to select use existing or start a new table.

The save as function in the edit values has little function because I cannot re-import.

I would like also to be able to add a column which has text in each row. I regular create a table of reference marks which the Line table function is useful but I need to give a description of the reference mark in the table.

IntelliCAD Explorer

When I delete one layer at a time in IntelliCAD Explorer there is no problem, however if I try to delete more than one layer the program crashes. I thought I remembered someone else posting this however I skimmed past post and did not see it.

Drawing inspector was on at the time.
The screen has popped up several times. Click OK enables the program to continue.

Plan and Profile 6.6

I haven't tried it in the newest patch, but in 2012 and ICAD 6.6 - when drawing a plan and profile sheets, it is a tad buggy.

The layouts it creates are sometimes blank, the plan view sometimes is empty, once the titleblock was twisted to the angle of the twist screen, but no viewport was created.

After 3 or 4 attempts, it will go through.

Draw Standard Items

Now that 2012 has become more stable I was looking to utilise some of the other options. After watching the two movies on Draw a Standard item and Create a Standard, I launched into setting up my own standards. I got to the stage of creating my own file and docking the blank screen to the side and then came to a halt. I could not get the drop down menu to appear on the blank screen and the command line instructed me to select an item. With the snap on nothing could be selected. After various combinations of mouse clicks the program hung. I went back to try it in V6.6 and I got a runtime error before I could select my udl,sdb file.

Copy layout Tab

A small bug with Copy Layout Tab. If I select an existing layout tab, right click, copy and enter new name, it copies the first layout tab not the current highlighted tab

How can I draw a rectangle by dimensions? (100'X200')

HydroCAD

the latest build/patch installs HydroCAD 9.10

I had 10.1 on the computer, it overwrote some files.

No big deal, I just re-installed HydroCAD 10.1, but this may create a moment of panic for some users when a hydro-cad model will not run do to new features in HydroCAD 10.1 that are not available in 9.10

Latest Patch

The latest patch has my entire Carlson system running slow. Besides that documents that printed fine on Friday (before the patch install) are now showing up as blank in my print preview screen.

Crosshairs freeze when set to more than 75% of screen. I normally use 100%.

New Build Posted (120113)

More major fixes include:

- Save time data loss in cases of errors during save operations

- Save failure due to low memory conditions

- Memory leak and low memory watchdog implemented. You will see messages indicating more than 1% memory change in command as well as warning when less than 10% of memory remain. Set MEMORYWATCHDOG=0 to disable warnings

- New display technique is implemented as a groundwork to further speed up certain drawing operations. You may encounter some display artifacts or even crashes as different graphics card have different graphics capabilities. This is work in progress. I highly recommend (unfortunately) that you set DISPDEBUGINFO=2 prior to installing the patch to go to the old methods temporarily. Type DISPDEBUGINFO at command line and set value to 2.

- Some dialogs not responsive (like Layer select button in LPOINT command) problem is fixed

- Drawing inspector hangup on exit is fixed

- Imprecise move (dragging) at large coordinates is fixed

- Distorted block display at large coordinates is fixed

- Mtext style selection problem is fixed

- Mtext dialog launch slowness is fixed

- Mouseover highlighting in paperspace is optimized

- Loss of entities in paperspace during 2DP command is fixed

- Potential registry data loss on process shutdown and restart is fixed

- ORTHO support during grip editing is fixed

- Pan/Zoom slowness with scrollbars enabled is fixed

Please keep the bug reports coming, I hope you can see the progress between the builds. We intend to try to make the next build the release one, by the end of the month, I hope that is doable.

A few things for IntelliCad 6.6

A few things that if a patch is available for Intellicad 6.6 and Carlson 2012

Multi-grips (being able to grab more than one vertice and stretch)

lengthen polylines similiar to lengthen lines (yes this corrected in 7.1 beta, but it would be nice to have it work in a more stable platform)

The fillet 2d polyline seems not to be working property. It will not fillet (and then join) two seperate polylines. Fillet will fillet and join lines.

The fillet 2dpolyline will fillet every vertice in a meandering 2dpolyline to the same exact radius.

Am I missing the command that will take two seperate polylines and fillet them with a radius and join the new radius and polylines together?

Lisp...

I am desperately missing the vl* function set. Is there a plan for the Intellicad Lisp to be modernized or is it intended to remain as is?

Layer States...

I would really like to see layer states in the Intellicad. I use them very regularly. I also use the Carlson layer state files but they do not fill all the need. They do not save/restore the visibility state in viewports and I think they also miss the plot/noplot.

Is this something that is there already but not exposed yet? Can it be accessed from Lisp?

1./ I don't think unreferenced xrefs are getting purged. I generally work with VISRETAIN on and have not tested with it off. I would like to see unreferenced xrefs and their layers purged. I believe Autocad does this when the drawing is opened.

2./ When I select an insert that is an external reference the properties panel indicates it is a block reference (which is true of course) but there is no path property displayed so I cannot tell if the block reference is external or not. The LIST command does indicate if the insert is external. I would like to see the path property exposed for block references.

Some little things...

When the user selects an entity and changes the layer using the layer drop down control on the properties panel the application does not update the layer in the control on the entity properties toolbar.

When an entity is selected and the user opens the layer list from the properties panel and trying to use type-ahead auto-completion, when a key is hit the control closes and the entity layer is changed to the first layer matching the character types. For example, if there are layer DECK, DRVY, and DTCH and a D is pressed the layer is changed to DECK.

My preferred action would have the control stay open and continue completion so if the user pressed D and R the control should have DRVY highlighted. The control should not close until a mouse click, enter or escape key is pressed. If the escape key is pressed or the mouse click is not within the layer drop down control the entity layer should not change.

The layer, colour, and linetype controls on the Entity Propoerties toolbar do not close when the escape key is pressed. It would be nice if they did.

I understand this is a beta application but thought I would point out it does seem to have stability issues when working for longer periods of time. Sometime an unrepeatable crash other times just unclean shutdown.

There does seem to be much improvement over when I first took looks at the v7.0.

Settings management...

The settings management via the CONFIG and OPTIONS commands sure could use a better design. Bricscad is a great example I find easy to use. It has the search box at the top, a definition of the setting and it's values, plus it shows if the setting is a drawing or registry setting. All in one place with the exception of profile management.

Drawing properties...

Does Intellicad 7.1 support custom drawing properties (DWGPROPS) now? If not is there a plan for implementation? This is directly related to fields for me as I want to be able to define my custom drawing properties and use fields linking the custom properties to the contents of attributes in my block inserts.
