Does the Intellicad platform support the object linking options?

• link points with CRD
• link linework with points
• link labels with linework
• link linework with centerlines

If yes, is there a plan for the implementation?

Toolbar Placement

Is it technically possible Intellicad to support placement of toolbars so they remain closest to the editing window? I am unable to position toolbars on the editing window side of the properties palette or between the editing window and the command console.

For me, I don't like to stack multiple toolbars and I really rather not have to pass over the properties and command windows so I tend not to use toolbar docked outside of them.

Printer Config with custom page size...

I create a printer configuration (PC3) file for 24"x48" sheet with the PDFCreator driver. To define the sheet I set the paper size to "Postscript Custom Page Size"

This shows up as a media size "User32767" in the printer configuration editor dialog. See:

When I go through the page setup dialog for my layout and choose my PDF24x48.pc3 the default page is defaulting to Letter.

I open the PC3 file in the config editor again and it shows the media size is set to "User257":

This relates to an additional problem when I open older files saved with page setups based on User32767 media size I always have to select the correct page size.

VBA in the Intellicad builds...

I just thought I would try to bring a VBA routine from Bricscad into Carlson but found VBA is not installed. I don't recall an option at install time but may have missed it.

Is VBA supported with Carlson Intellicad?

This build is based on IntelliCAD 7.2d (initially Carlson2014 was built on IntelliCAD 7.2c).
It contains a lot of different fixes, but if for some reasons you don't like the new build - you can roll-back to build 131030 using link in "Carlson 2014/IntelliCAD 7.2 Links" section.

3D graphics adaptors...

I am currently considering replacing my desktop workstation. On that note, is there any advantage to a professional 3D card versus a good consumer card when using the Intellicad based products?

Any tips or advice appreciated...

Triangulation problems when using Pick Referance Plane

Hi

I am having some problems with my triangulation files. The points I am triangulating from are a wall area and some overhang. To triangulate that correctly I twist the screen so it looks like a pond and triangulate using the Pick Reference Plane option. I choose to use the current view as the plane.

This will triangulate and draw the faces and lines correctly but the tin file itself contains wrong data. When I draw surface boundary using the applicable command I get the boundary far away. The same goes if I draw the surface, I will not get it drawn anywhere near where it should be. The drawing is in the twisted view of the surface and points triangulated but if you zoom extends you will see the boundary drawn.

Is anyone having problems upload point (text and raw) data files from data collectors to the .dwg? When I try to upload to the .dwg I get an error message asking me about 9pin and usb. I choose usb (which I have been using to date and in earlier versions), and it will not accept it.

IntelliCAD Consortium has released version 7.2a update with over 700 fixes and improvements since initial 7.2 release. Carlson has updated our build to include this release. Several of the recently added changes include:

-- Ability to open 2013 .dwg files by converting them on the fly to 2010 .dwg format.
-- Fix for slowness related to scrollbars
-- Snapping fixes
-- Point drawing is greatly speed up, including field-to-finish
-- Fix for PEDIT, edit vertex
-- Fix for open dialog problems
-- Stability fixes to improve plot preview and printing
-- Wipeout frame printing is fixed

-- Dotted linetypes now display correctly

New build (121213) is posted

This build has been long in coming. There are so many fixes gone into this build that it is hard to enumerate them, so I will not list specific fixes. Particular areas of focus have been stability, performance, issues with graphics cards and printers, and drawing compatibility problems. We have been in touch with many of you and the improvements we hope you will see in this build is a direct result of your cooperation.

New 121024 build is posted

Things has been a bit slow. We have been waiting for fixes to the release version for issues which came up as a result of all other fixes made. This has been a slow process and we have tested the resulting build with a small group of power users first to confirm the stability of this build.

- Added fix for performance issue with NEAR snap
- Fix for Windows Explorer crash as result of clipboard bug in Windows
- Crash and deadlock fixes
- Ability to disable the AEC object processing in case of corruption

- Digitizing fix

- Fix to the last update issue with block visibility

Because of this deliberately slowed down process we hope to have another update some time soon as we have more fixes accumulated in the pipeline.

Just curious...

Are things getting better in the Intellicad world yet?

2012-10-23: I guess I can update this a bit myself from emails... The Intellicad development is moving forward but requires a bit of a grunt.

Survey - Data Collectors

I am using Carlson Survey 2013 build 120814 with IntelliCAD 7.2. This post is regarding the uploading of data to a Nikon 550DTM. I am fully able to download but I need to go to Carlson X-Port or the release of 6.6 I still have on my system to be able to upload data. This is a real issue now as the 6.6 is giving me "Registration Error 415" errors which are very time consuming. I do not wish to use the X-port as being in the drawinf file is sometimes imperative to upload the proper information. This has been an issue every since I've started using anything besides the 6.6. It jus closes the window and does not recognize the usb connection.

SiteNet

I am having some real issues with SiteNet. The first pulldown menu Define Layer.. does not save correctly. If you set up some layers save it with a name then make changes and save it with a new name it saves to the original name. It is difficult to keep developing a site with various options. I had to remove all signs of the trg file so as it would create a new one. I think this is left over from the project data folder problem. If so Then there is mine field of other potential failing file connections.

UPDATE 09/04/12:

Unfortunately, based on feedback we got over weekend and today, it is apparent that there is a new problem with display of blocks/XREFs at certain zoom levels. The entities are there and they apparently will print alright, but this makes difficult to impossible to work.

If you are affected, I suspect this issue will outweigh many good fixes in the build we posted. So, if this is the case, please download the current shipping version to roll-back the one with problem:

Architectural Paper Plans

Today I received a PDF image of an Architectural Foundation Plan [I am not going to receive an electronic DXF/DWG of it :(]
What I do is take my calculator and write out the decimal equivalent of the architectural number on the foundation plan.
Examples 4'10"/19'6"
I would write out 4.833'/19.5'
Why???
I'm suprised when I called into Carlson tech support that entering distances in Architectural speak isn't supported yet.  Brian @ Carlson suggested I post the question in this blog and maybe if their is enough response it'll be programmed or explained why.  Brian wasn't really able to explain to my satisfaction why.
Is it really that hard to program?
Maybe it's that we surveyors haven't asked for it enough (or am I the only guy not getting the electronic drawings?)
Just some thoughts.  What do the rest of you reading this blog think?

Spell Checker????

Would some of you who read this do the following:  (and then post a reply with your results)
drop the following text into paperspace

Surveyors Report:
We found irons all around the block.  We also found that many of those irons were far off from theoretical corners.  We were able to hold nearly record distances on the block.  The distances shown hereon are the prorate distances for lot 2 within the block.

Then do 'spell' from the command line.  In mine it rejects the pural of words. (distances is spelled wrong??)  I would like a confirmation before asking that Leonid look into it.
