image background will not plot

Carlson 2013, build 120712
ICAD 7.2.178854549.P.VC9X86
Windows 7, 8 GB ram


Background image is a large high quality resolution aerial map.  The background image will not plot to any pdf driver.  DWG true view plots the image in monochrome.  AutoCad Civil 3d, 2011 plots it to pdf just fine.
